To be quite honest, I didn;t " turn away " from god. I can recall in 1st grade or so, while singing " Jesus loves me " in my class of sunday school, and thinking " This all makes no sense "

Then I went thru the motions of being a good lutheran boy to please my dear gramma, but when she died in 1993, admitted aloud to myself and my remaining family that I didn;t beleive the mythology of the bible.

I beleive that there is possibly a force in the universe that reacts and responds to human concsciousness, BUT also that no man has ever understood it or defined it correctly. AND that the rise of ALL legitimate and earnest RELIGIONS ( discounting of course cults and the Nazi farce ) have been attempts to put into concepts that men could grasp what effects this force has had on us.
